Last Exhibition Game Ends Victorious for Tech Mens Basketball

MELBOURNE, Fla. (men’s basketball) – Florida Tech Men’s Basketball faced their last exhibition opponent against the Orlando All-Stars fine tuning their
game before the anticipated regular season tips off next week winning 94-86.

The Panthers came out firing taking an early 11 point lead off a short jumper by E.J. Murray (Rockledge, Fla.) in the paint. Tech continued to play solid
ball holding a double digit lead through out the first half but fouls and turnovers started to build up on the Panthers side allowing the All-Stars to chip
into the lead. Orlando continued to chip away narrowing the lead down to six with just under two minutes to go in the half and then eventually captured the
lead going into the half by three; 50-47.

Coming off the break, the second half started like the first half but with the All-Stars holding the consistent lead throughout the game. Tech, a number of
times threw together runs to cut the lead to two but the All-Stars would answer back with a run of their own.

The Panthers finally broke through and took a one point lead off a 3-pointer from Justin Sedlak (Pezinik, Slovakia) with four and half minutes to play. The
shot swayed the momentum back to the Panthers side and they never looked back riding that wave of momentum to the finish, beating the All-Stars 94-86.

The Orlando All-Stars consisting of five Florida Tech Alumni and a mix of other conference alumni held their ground showing that they can still play
competitive basketball. The Florida Tech Alumni on the team consisted of Junior Allen (1998), Matthew Thys (1996), Ryan Maultsby (2006), Mike Carbenia
(2006), and Tim Jace (2004).

Tech Alum, Allen led the All-Stars with 22 pts while teammate Eric Dean, a graduate of Rollins in 1997 tallied 21 pts. Two other Panther Alumni combined
for 34 of the 86 All-Star points; Thys totaled 20 and Maultsby totaled 14 on the night.

Carl McNally (Cocoa Beach, Fla.) with the hot hand on the night shooting 9-10 from the field, 5-6 from 3-pt range, 3-3 from the free-throw line captured
the game high with 26 points. Three other Panthers had double digit figures as well; Sedlak and Arthur Richardson (Niceville, Fla.) each had 17 points
while Matt Hill (Fort Myers, Fla.) totaled 11 points.

The Panthers open their regular season on the road in Daytona Beach, Florida at Bethune Cookman College on Thursday, November 16th at 7 pm.
