– Just a year after publishing the best-selling How to Break Software: A Practical Guide to Testing , Florida Tech Professor Dr. James A. Whittaker has
published How to Break Software Security: Effective Techniques for Security . The book is co-authored by Herbert H. Thompson, who earned a doctoral degree
from Florida Tech. Both books have been widely adopted by major software companies and government organizations.
Published by Addison Wesley, the latest book explores attacking software dependencies, breaking security through the user interface, design and
implementation attacks and how to apply the attacks. The book also includes a fault model for software security testing.
Whittaker was one of 10 international computer scientists invited to join Microsoft Corporation’s Trustworthy Computing Academic Advisory Board in 2003. He
recently received an unsolicited $70,000 Air Force Research Laboratory grant to model all possible hacker exploits.
