Lecture Explores Archeoastronomy

– Florida Tech’s Astronomy and Astrophysics Public Lecture Series will present, “The Sons of Persia: A History of Islamic Scientific Scholarship” on Apr.
28 at 8 p.m. The presentation, free to the community, will be in the F.W. Olin Engineering Complex auditorium, Room EC118.

The lecturer is Dr. Hamid Rassoul, Florida Tech professor of physics and space sciences. There will be stargazing afterward, on the rooftop of the Olin
Physical Sciences Building, weather-permitting.

“The translated works of these pre-renaissance Islamic scientists and cross-fertilizations of the European scholars gave birth to our view of modern
mathematics and sciences,” said Rassoul.

The F.W. Olin Engineering Center is located on University Blvd. For more information, call (321) 674-7207, or visit fit.edu/aapls.
