Lecture Looks at Prehistoric Native American Textiles
MELBOURNE, FLA. — As part of Florida Tech’s Humanities Lecture Series, Christel Baldia, Ruth Funk Visiting Professor of Textiles, will present “Prehistoric
Native American Textiles and Material Analysis” on April 12 at 7 p.m. The presentation will be in the Evans Library annex, Room P133.
Baldia holds graduate degrees in textiles sciences from Ohio State University and undergraduate degrees in anthropology and archaeology. She blends hard
science and the social sciences with art and history in her interdisciplinary approach and shares her research specialty of Native American prehistoric
textiles.
“Her groundbreaking research using forensic photography to learn more about ancient textiles has been enthusiastically received by the archaeological
community,” said Carla Funk, director of special projects, advancement.
