MELBOURNE, Fla. (Football) – Florida Tech Football will present Inside the Huddle with Howard Schnellenberger, hosted by President Anthony J. Catanese on Friday, May 25, at 6:15 p.m. in the Hartley Room on the Florida Tech campus.
Schnellenberger coached for 52 years at the NCAA and NFL levels. He led the University of Miami to a national championship in 1983 as the Hurricanes’ head coach. In the NFL, he coached seven playoff teams and served as the offensive coordinator during the Miami Dolphins’ perfect 17-0 season in 1972.
Before retiring in fall 2011, Schnellenberger was the head coach at Florida Atlantic University for 11 seasons. Hired by former FAU President Catanese to be the architect of the Owls football program, Schnellenberger was a driving force behind FAU Stadium, which opened last fall.
The Panthers’ head coach Steve Englehart will also speak about the progress he and his coaching staff have made in his first year. For the first time, the Florida Tech Football Founders Club will be introduced, and honored.
