Gift Commemorates Greek Life on Florida Tech Campus

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Florida Tech’s fraternities and sororities have donated a bronze disk to commemorate fraternity and sorority life on campus. During Homecoming 2008, students placed it in the academic quad where they created a meditation area with placement of a planted area and two benches.

The gift was made on behalf of the university’s more than 300 fraternity and sorority members by Jon Perout, Interfraternity Council president, and Jamie Huffman, Panhellenic president. Florida Tech President Anthony J. Catanese accepted the gift on behalf of the university.

Perout said “We look forward to the next 50 years of fraternity and sorority life and for the campus. We can only imagine the technological advances that are inevitable, and we are sure that Florida Tech will continue to embrace these advances with open arms.”

“The gift was made by and for the chapters on campus as a 50th Anniversary gift to Florida Tech,” said Joseph Adrien Noel, a junior and member of Pi Kappa Alpha.

Florida Tech Greek chapters include Alpha Phi, Gamma Phi Beta, Phi Sigma Sigma, Alpha Tau Omega, Lambda Chi Alpha, Chi Phi, Pi Lambda Phi, Pi Kappa Alpha and Tau Kappa Epsilon. The fraternities and sororities are among about 100 clubs and organizations on campus.
