**MEDIA ADVISORY** Fall Commencement Set for Saturday, Dec. 16

WHAT: Florida Institute of Technology is holding 2017 Fall Commencement ceremonies for undergraduate and graduate students from the Melbourne campus, online programs and off-site locations.

WHEN: 9:30 a.m. ceremony for graduates from the College of Engineering and Computing, the College of Science and the College of Aeronautics; 2 p.m. ceremony for all graduates from the Bisk College of Business and the College of Psychology and Liberal Arts. Both ceremonies will be held Saturday, Dec. 16.

WHERE: Charles and Ruth Clemente Center on the Florida Tech campus, 150 W. University Blvd., Melbourne

WHO: Florida Institute of Technology President Dwayne McCay will offer opening remarks before two distinguished Florida Tech alumni offer keynote addresses at the ceremonies. The morning ceremony will feature 1985 College of Aeronautics graduate Huntley Lawrence, the director of aviation at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Elizabeth Lunny, who earned her bachelor’s degree in humanities from the College of Psychology and Liberal Arts in 1993, will speak at the afternoon ceremony. She is the vice president of luxury and the publisher of T Magazine at The New York Times. Both Lawrence and Lunny are past recipients of Florida Tech’s Outstanding Alumni awards.

McCay will also confer two honorary degrees at the morning ceremony. One degree will go to Marilyn Link, who has been a visionary presence on Florida Tech’s Board of Trustees since 1984. The other is for Lawrence Mertens, Ph.D., formerly the chief scientist at RCA and a close associate of Jerome Keuper, Florida Tech’s founder.

MORE: Students from 33 states and 52 countries will receive diplomas during the ceremonies. The morning ceremony will feature 344 students, while the afternoon session will include 370. In total, the university will bestow 990 degrees.
