Meet Janie, Molecular Biology ’14

The summer of 2013 took me on an adventure to Toledo, Ohio, where I participated in a research fellowship in a cancer biology laboratory at the University of Toledo.

To be honest, the most important thing I learned working in a lab was to never take college for granted. I have a tendency to get caught up with exams and lab reports and forget to just… have fun. Working full time this summer made me appreciate college like never before.

So this school year I vow to savor every day at Florida Tech. I’m going to learn. I’m going study. And I’m going to have a lot of fun.

We haven’t been introduced. I am Janie Griffin. Just your average aspiring geneticist. I’m a senior in molecular biology from Satellite Beach. Brevard County is beautiful. I am lucky to live here, as well as attend school just over the causeway.

I’m off to go live up to my vow. Tomorrow I’m going to start with a swim in the Panther Aquatic Center. Later this week, I’m going to go kayaking in the Indian River Lagoon, boogie boarding in the ocean and swing dancing. I might even save up for a trip to Thailand.  I look forward to having all kinds of fun both in and out of the classroom, and sharing it with you.
