Men’s Basketball Suffers Hard Loss in Remaining Seconds to Rollins

WINTER PARK, Fla. (men’s basketball) – In the last SSC game of the year, the Panthers and Tars battled with each other until the remaining seconds of the
game as the Tars got the victory off a game winning basket in the last seconds of regulation; the game ended in favor of the Tars 70-68.

The two conference rivals started the game with the Tars taking the early advantage going up by five at the 14:10 mark of the first half and then led at
the nine minute mark by four. The relentless Panthers kept the pressure on as they kept within a bucket or two throughout the half as the first half of
play ended in a 35-35 tie.

Both teams were evenly matched in the first half of play as the Panthers shot a slight better shooting 48% from the field while the Tars shot 46%. Each
team shot 30% from beyond the arc but under the boards, the Panthers held a one rebound advantage 16 rebounds to the Tars 15 boards going into
intermission.

The start of the second half didn’t see much change as both teams exchanged baskets keeping the game within one possession of each other. Through the first
ten minutes of the second half, the Panthers and Tars tied each other five times with no team gaining more than a three point lead. With the game marked at
50-50 apiece and the game clock at 11:41, the Tars pushed to a seven point led over the next seven minutes to put the score at 66-59 with just over four
minutes to play in regulation. Defending their territory the Panthers went on a 9-2 to tie the game at 68 apiece with less than thirty seconds to play.

After several timeouts taken to determine what play to run, the Tars in bounded the ball and got the shot they were looking for but missed but was able to
come up with the rebound and get the put back to go through the basket with less than a second to play. The Panthers were able to inbound the ball for a
last second attempt but the game clock sounded before the shot was taken ending in the 70-68 victory for the Tars.

In the second half the stat sheet took a 180 degree turn as the Tars shot 50% from the field while the Panthers shot 46%. The Tars also held the rebounding
advantage with a 17-16 rebounding effort in the second half but the game ended in a 32-32 tie under the boards. On the night the Panthers shot 47% from the
field while the Tars shot slightly better finishing 48% of their shots.

Leading the scoring for the crimson and grey was E.J. Murray (Rockledge, Fla.) who finished with 19 points on 6 for 9 shooting from the field and 5-7 from
beyond the arc. Teammate Carl McNally (Cocoa Beach, Fla.) scored 12 points on the night going 7 for 8 from the free throw line; McNally also finished with
six assists on the night. Solid performances came from Jod Kelley (McCormick, S.C.) who finished with 8 points and 7 rebounds while Justin Sedlak
(Pezinick, Slovakia) scored 6 points grabbing 6 boards. Ryan Ballard (Melbourne, Fla.) and Sean Zeller (Merritt Island, Fla.) scored 6 points apiece while
senior Damien Clark (Orange Park, Fla.) score 4 points in the game marking 500 points in his career at Florida Tech; Clark also grabbed 5 boards on the
night.

Tech ends the SSC with a 4-12 record and an 8-20 overall record as they will host Johnson and Whales on
‘Senior Night’ in their season finale on Saturday, February 24th with a tip time around 4pm after the women’s season finale starting at 2pm.
