The Florida Tech Scott Center for Autism in Dubai.

by T.D. McCay, Ph.D.

We recently had a chance to visit Dubai and do a little work with one of the Florida Tech Alumni, Director General Khaled Al Khamda.  Mr Khaled works directly for the sheikh and looks stunning in his snow white garb which indicates he’s an Emirati. He directs all the social programs for the city, state and introduced us to the Dubai program for children with disabilities such as autism.  A quick overview of the successes taking place at the Scott Center for Autism Treatment here on campus convinced Mr. Khaled that a partnership would be highly beneficial to Dubai to conduct an assessment and lay out a formal partnership.  This will present opportunities for our students and faculty but more importantly, will provide improved treatment for the young Dubai participants who suffer from this malady.

I have been lucky enough to travel to a great many cities over the years but Dubai is among my favorites. The city is sort of like Las Vegas on steroids.  Our applied behavior analysts will help make it a better place for the Emirati children
