The X-Culture Project: New Perspectives

Guest Blogger, Kaitlin Brennan, Nathan M. Bisk College of Business student

When I first learned that we were going to be participating in the X-Culture project, I thought it would be a hassle. Truthfully it is work, and it’s hard to coordinate. But I have come to realize that it is a good indication of what the real world will be like. I am an International Business major and throughout my future career I want to travel and work with people of different cultural backgrounds, and that is exactly is what this project is forcing us to do. We have to learn to manage the work with our teammates, many of which reside in different continents and time zones.

I have a culturally diverse team, with people from Germany, Thailand, Barbados, Columbia and Ghana. It took a little while for all of my group members to answer and one of them hasn’t really given any input, which is a little bit frustrating, but I guess that is just part of the process. One of my teammates doesn’t speak the best English, he said he is learning and can’t wait to practice. I am looking forward to talking with him and hopefully helping him learn!

Overall, I am looking forward to seeing a new perspective and learning from my teammates as well as sharing what I know with them. This project is going to be a good experience and I am looking forward to its progression.
