Panther Club Hosts Athletic Kick-off Luncheon

President Catanese to serve as guest speaker   MELBOURNE, Fla. – Florida Tech athletics has kicked
off the 2007-08 season with a bang with the cross country, volleyball and soccer teams well on their way to winning seasons. Now the Panther Club is doing
the same by hosting its Fall Sports Kick-off Luncheon in the Hartley Room of the Student Union Building Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Noon.   Speaking at
the event is Dr. Anthony Catanese, Florida Tech president and president of the Sunshine State Conference. Dr. Catanese will talk not only about the state
of Panther athletics, but also the state of SSC athletics.   The state of Florida Tech athletics is strong indeed. Tech’s volleyball team racked up a
perfect 11-0 record heading into conference play and is poised to make some noise in the league this year. The women’s soccer team also got off to a
running start this fall, currently with a 4-1-0 record to sit in the top half of the SSC standings. The men’s soccer team beat a physical Flagler team to
win the Panthers’ home-opener, while freshman Myles Garza paced the field at the Florida Tech Invitational last week to take first place and become the
school’s first cross country runner in over a decade to time in under 26:00 in an 8K. Tech has also already claimed two conference Player of the Week
honors this fall.

Cost for the kick-off luncheon, which is sponsored by Dan Ater State Farm Insurance and Browning’s, is $15 and it is open to the public. Space is limited
and the first 50 registrants will receive a Florida Tech athletic t-shirt, so all are encouraged to register early by visiting www.merchantamerica.com/fit/echopay, or by calling 321-674-8032. RSPVs are requested by Friday, Sept. 21.
