Panther Successes & Accomplishments – April

Maria Fernanda Sagastume is from Panama City, Panama and is a graduate student majoring in Healthcare Management, with a bachelors degree in Biomedical Engineering. She has a passion for medicine and technology and she is researching healthcare regulations and policies as well as the marketing and business aspects of medical devices. Maria is continuing her co-op at Medicomp, where she conducts market research of over-the-counter wearable devices, product comparisons, and outreach. Through her co-op, she has enhanced her research and communication skills and learned more about the medical device market. She’s also learned about the innovative medical industry, specifically AI, machine learning, and IoT. Maria’s favorite part of her co-op has been meeting the CEO and leadership team to determine whether or not another company’s product was a good fit for Medicomp. Maria plans to pursue another graduate degree in Human Centered Design and eventually become CEO of a MedTech company. She recommends that students who are interested in co-op network – talk to people at events, mixers, conferences, and student organization meetings, and follow up with them afterwards via email or LinkedIn. Make sure they remember that you are interested and excited.
