Panther Women Fall to Tampa 55-50

TAMPA, Fla. – The Florida Tech women’s basketball team (8-7, 2-2) dropped a 55-50 decision to the University of Tampa Spartans (11-14, 2-1) earlier today
in Sunshine State Conference action at the Martinez Center. Tampa pushes ahead in standing grabbing the #2 spot with Lynn University placing Tech and Saint
Leo tied for 4th place.

The Panthers unable to catch a break in the first half only managed to make it to the line four times. Tampa held the lead in the first half heading into
the locker room with a six point lead 31-25 over the crimson and gray. The Panthers did manage to knot the score up three times and take the lead after
sophomore Tenisha Chase (Temple Hills, Md.) managed a three possession scoring run hitting six points right out of the gate.

Junior Danise Fequiere (Miami, Fla.) grabbed the only lead hitting one from the line. Despite a good effort from Tech in the second half and outscoring
Tampa, the Spartans answered every shot and Tech finally ran out of time.

Junior guard Danielle Vaughn (Tallahassee, Fla.) came off the bench and contributed 13 points to lead the Panthers and dished out three assists and four
rebounds. Fequiere added 12 rebounds and 7 points, while Chase finished with 10. Sophomore guard Amanda Muns followed with eight points rounding off Tech’s
scoring.

Three Spartans scored in the double figures with two of the players notching double doubles. Shaneisha Walton (Largo, Fla.) tallied 12 points and 12
rebounds. Courtney Wilder (Tampa, Fla.) added ten points and 11 rebounds while Erica Woodard (Valrico, Fla.) chipped in 13 points for the victory.
