Panthers Baseball Dominate Warriors in Home Double Header

MELBOURNE, Fla. (baseball) – Tech baseball scores a total of twenty-six runs against the Warriors of Merrimack College in the double header match up on
their home field of the Less Hall-Andy Seminick Field. The Panthers will face the Warriors one more time on Sunday, February 18th to close out the three
game series.

Tech defeated Merrimack in game one 12-2 and then went on to defeat the Warriors 14-2 in game two. In game one the Panthers jumped out quickly on the
Warriors off of a pair of two run homeruns from Brandon Veronee (Richmond, Va.) and Will Lanier (Jacksonville, Fla.) in the second inning; each reaching
opposite sides of the ball park. The Panthers continued their scoring outing scoring one in the third and five in the forth inning. Tech would go on to
score one more in the sixth and then their last run in the eight inning.

Eamonn Powers (Staten Island, N.Y.), Sam Palace (Clarkston, Mich.), JD Davidson (Naples, Fla.), and Veronee each had two hits while Brendan Twomey (Boca
Raton, Fla.), Mike Messana (Pinehurst, N.C.), Steve Condotta (MIssissauga, Ontario), and Will Lanier added one hit apiece. Veronee, Palace, and Lanier
drove in 9 of the 12 runs by the Panthers in game one; four, three, and two respectively. Twomey, Powers, and Davidson drove in the other three runs for
the Panthers. The Panthers had 12 hits total for the game.

On the mound, Jay Crouse (Naples, Fla.) received his second win of the year after pitching a strong six innings striking out 8 batters only allowing one
run on six hits.

Game 2 – Florida Tech 14 Merrimack 2 (Final 7 innings)

Game two saw much of the same outcome like game one as the Panthers came out swinging for the fences as Tech scored in the first four innings of the game.
The first inning, Eamonn Powers drove in two run off his first homerun of the season that went over the right field fence wall driving in Mike Messana. In
the second, a grand slam homerun by Steve Condotta put the Panthers up 6-0. The Panthers would score two more in the third and continued their outing in
the forth with a five run inning and their last run in the sixth. The Warriors would get their two runs in the forth inning.

Condotta, Veronee, Danny Sutton (Land O’Lakes, Fla.), and Davidson had two hits apiece while five other Panthers batters had one hit in the game. Condotta
in game two drove in 6 runs while driving in four runs with one swing of the bat as he hit his first homerun of the year. Tech had a total of 13 hits in
game two scoring 14 runs.

In his second start of the season, Mike Piazza (Pt. St. Lucie, Fla.) earned his second win of the year striking out six batters in five innings of
pitching.

Tech has now scored in double figures in six of the eight games this year totaling 81 runs in those six games. With a record of 6-2 overall, the Panthers
are back on the diamond finishing out the three game series with Marrimack on Sunday, February 18th, with a starting time of 12pm. Follow Carl
