Panthers Downed by Fighting Knights

BOCA RATON, Fla. – In a game where weather played a factor causing two stoppages during the game and with the game being called due to darkness in the
middle of the bottom of the eighth, the #23rd ranked Panthers were eventually put down by the Knights of Lynn University 8-2 in non conference play.

Lynn started the scoring off in the bottom of the first as they started their outing at the plate with a base hit through the infield. With two out, the
Knights knocked in the first run with a base hit up the middle. Lynn again scored another run going up 2-0 in the second inning as a lead off double
started the second. Again another base hit drove in the run as Lynn took the early lead.

Through the Panthers first two innings, Tech could only manage one base hit through the left side of the infield by catcher Sam Palace (Clarkston, Mich.).
After the second inning, a 45 minute delay due to lighting and rain in the area caused a break in action and allowed the Panthers to gather themselves.
Tech worked quickly through the third to get at bat in the fourth.

In the fourth, JD Davidson (Naples, Fla.) led the inning getting to base after being hit by a pitch. Davidson would move into scoring position to second
after a wild pitch with the always dangerous Steve Condotta (Mississauga, Ontario) at the plate. Steve managed to work a hitter’s count and get a pitch
that was manageable and drove a high hard line drive over the left center field fence tying the ballgame up with his third homerun of the year with
Davidson scoring on the homerun.

The fifth didn’t get any production scoring wise but each team did manage a base hit apiece as Lynn hit one of their four doubles on the game and with the
Panthers Nick Brennan (Detroit, Mich.) hitting his loan base hit of the game.

In the sixth the game slipped away from the Panthers as Lynn went on scoring five runs while only getting one hit in the inning but managed to work each
pitching count getting five walks scoring three runs. Again, the skies opened up causing for the second delay of the game in the seventh.

The game got under way again in the seventh and managed to push Brendan Twomey (Boca Raton, Fla.) over to third after being walked but Twomey would be left
stranded as the Knights got out of the inning. Lynn scored their last run in the seventh as they managed another two hit inning leaving three around the
bases loaded.

The eighth inning saw the last of any baseball being played on the afternoon after the umpire called the game due to darkness. At the end of the long day,
the Panthers fell 8-2 taking their overall record to 25-14. Tech again is on the road as they will travel to the campus of Nova Southeastern to take on the
Sharks in an SSC match up starting on Friday, April 13th starting at 6 pm.

In other NCAA Baseball News, the Panthers again managed to be mentioned in the NCAA Division II National Poll staying in the top 30 with a ranking of #23
falling three spots from #20 but staying in the national spot light of Division II Baseball
