ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Panthers (6-8-3, 2-4-2) ended their season going out on top with a win defeating the Tritons 2-1 on the North Field at Eckerd
Ross Allen (Castel, Guernsey, United Kingdom) took sole position for the scoring leader in the Sunshine State Conference with his 14th goal on the season.
Senior Captain Brian Lundy (Satellite Beach, Fla.) was awarded for the assist on the play as he fed Allen from the backfield with a kick up and over the
Tritons defense to Allen who scored the first goal of the game.
As the play on the field started to heat up and opportunities showing for each team, the Tritons gained an advantage deep in the Panthers defense; a cross
by Nathan Bender to Joseph Ilett tied the game at 1-1. The game went into halftime knotted at 1-1.
Coming out of the break both teams broke out producing scoring chances to take the lead but couldn’t finish their plays.
Tech jumped on one opportunity as they used the width of the field finding Allen who ripped a shot that was deflected back to Patrick Carlson (Melbourne,
Fla.) who scored the essential game winner. Carlson’s goal was his first for his collegiate career and was the game winner over the Tritons in the 85th
Head coach Robin Chan was delighted for his team to get a win on the last game of the year. “The boys fought hard throughout the whole game never giving
up…it was a good win for the older guys especially the seniors as they end their career on a winning note…they will always remember this win,” Chan
Sophomore goalie Cory Collins (Melbourne, Fla.) picked up the win recording his fifth on the year with a final season record of 5-7-3.
Tech ended the regular season with a win and move to 6-8-3 overall record and a 2-4-2 record in the SSC.
