Rockledge Resident Earns Army Internship

– Brian Wilkins, a senior at Florida Institute of Technology, Army ROTC cadet, and Rockledge resident, completed a summer internship at Fort Hood, Texas.
He put his computer science training to work in the Military Information Management Department there.

“Working with other soldiers, Cadet Wilkins designed and created Web sites and databases, which contained vital information in support of the global war on
terrorism,” said Lt. Col. Thomas Tate, Florida Tech professor of military science. Wilkins provided additional technical guidance in computer technology
and media services.

Cadet Wilkins also was one of 18 Florida Institute of Technology Army ROTC cadets who displayed their technical, tactical and leadership skills this
summer. The cadets finished first in their geographical region at the annual National Advanced Leadership Camp (NALC) experience in Ft. Lewis, Wash.

The mission of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps is to commission the future officer leadership of the United States Army. The program is open to male
and female full-time students enrolled in four-year bachelor’s degree programs. The program’s instruction covers military fundamentals common to all
branches of the service.
