Panthers Fall 4-0 in Both Games of Season Opener Double Header Against Buc’s
MIAMI SHORES, FLA.-Florida Tech returns from Miami with two disappointing open season losses against the Barry Buccaneers (2-0). The Florida Tech Panthers
(0-2) were unable to score any runs with the bottom of the line-up falling short at the plate and giving up four runs in both contests falling 4-0 and 4-0.
Sophomore Amber West ( Apopka, Fla.) and red-shirt freshman Haley Pollio (Melbourne, Fla.) each suffered a loss on the day for Tech. West gave up four runs
and four hits, three earned runs while fanning seven batters. Polio hurled only 2.2 innings and tallied five hits on three runs, placing two on while
striking out two.
Sophomore Thrya Dewey (Chelmsford, Mass.) came in for Polio and gave up one run on two hits, walking three in only a quarter of an inning. Closing out the
second game was newcomer junior Judith Husband (Wewahitchka, Fla.) who finished only allowing one hit only placing one runner on base and striking
out two for the night cap.
Four Panthers went 2-for-6 for the double-header with Senior Courtney Harless notching the only multiple base hit in the first game slamming out a double.
Harless had the best slugging percentage for Tech at .500 for the day.
The Panthers will be back action next Friday, February 10th traveling to Valdosta, Georgia to play the Blazers in a 6:00 p.m. double header.
