Panthers Finish at 2006 Womens Collegiate Doubles Fall Championships

SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. (women’s tennis) — The Florida Tech women’s program finished their fall season hosting the 2006 Doubles Championships at DeSoto Park
today. Three institutions participated in the event including Rollins College , Flagler College and Florida Tech.

Because of the small turn-out of teams that originally committed to attend, the event was shortened to a one day round robin format. Rollins College
prevailed on the day after sweeping every one of their flights.

Panthers’ number one tandem of junior Michaela Horvathova (Bratislava, Slovakia) and Natalia Ramos (San Juan, Puerto Rico) took medalists honors after
succumbing to the Tars’ #9 ranked duo of Tasi Purcell and Marnie Mahler 7-5, 6-2 and came back in the final match shutting down the Saints’ Chelci DeCuba
and Chelsea Maratta 6-0, 6-0.

Tech’s number two pair of sophomore Nicole David (Fort Pierce, Fla.) and junior Amanda Rohrbach (Jefferson City, Mo.) fell in both matches grabbing one
point in their second set against Rollins 6-0, 6-1, while they faired better against Flagler only falling 6-1, 6-4.

Seniors’ Aya Nakatsuji (Sakura, Chiba, Japan) and senior Tania Gay (Melbourne, Fla.) made up the Panthers #3 flight. Nakatsuji and newcomer Gray lost 6-0,
6-1 to the Tars and 6-2, 6-2 to the Saints.
