Panthers Finish Fifth at Tampa Early Bird Classic

TAMPA, Fla. (Cross Country) – With 14 teams in the field, both Florida Tech’s men’s and women’s cross
country teams placed fifth Friday at the University of Tampa’s Early Bird Classic.

With 131 points, Tech’s men finished well ahead of sixth place Florida College, and Embry-Riddle took home the first place trophy for a second straight
week with a mere 29 points in the 8K.

Though the times for the men’s race were unavailable, reigning Sunshine State Conference Runner of the Week Myles Garza paced the Pack for
the second consecutive week, finishing fourth overall.

On the women’s side the Panthers finished with 140 points, just 20 shy of fourth place Nova Southeastern, while Tampa claimed top honors in its home meet
with 20 points.

Carolyn Salois Horst led the way for Tech once again, timing in at 20:41 to finish 16th. Also placing in the Top 20 for the
Panthers was Jen Lindsay who finished 19th with a time of 21:16.
