Panthers Finishes 12th at Flagler Fall Slam Womens Golf Tournament in First Team Showing of the Season

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (women’s golf)− The University of West Florida held off Nova Southeastern University by one stroke with a 613 to win the 36-hole,
16-team Flagler Fall Slam Tuesday afternoon at The King & The Bear Course at the World Golf Village.

West Florida’s Victoria Jackson took home medalist honors, also claiming that award by a stroke, with a four-over par 148, besting teammate Sarah Nicholson
and her four-over 149.

The course played a little tougher today with the early temperatures in the mid-40’s with some wind and warming up over the course of the day to the
mid-60’s.

Jackson, after shooting a one-under 71 yesterday, shot a five-over 77 to conclude the tournament with a 148. Nicholson, who shot an even par 72 yesterday,
also found the course a little tougher with a five-over 77.

Daniela Vargas of Shorter tied for third with Maria Garcia Austt of Nova Southeastern and Danielle Davis of Armstrong Atlantic with a seven-over 151.

The best round of the day went to Florida Tech’s sophomore Daniela Iacobelli (Satellite Beach, Fla.) who carded a three-over 75 for the day and finished
with an overall 154, shaving four strokes off her previous day’s total. She finished sixth along with Anne-Sophie Friis of Nova Southeastern.

Freshman newcomer Stacey O’Hara (Orlando, Fla.), placing second on the team, shot a first round 78 and second round 80 for a 158 finishing 16th for the
Fall Slam. Sophomore Natalie Kohler (Johannesburg, South Africa), had a rough tournament, finishing tied for 30th shooting 166 (80-86). Rounding out the
Panthers, freshman Brittany Zilnicki (Jamesport, N.Y.) shot 116 and 133 for her first collegiate showing placing 84 out of the 86 golfers.

The Panthers will be back in action on October 29th thru the 31st over in Saint Leo at Lake Jovita for the 2006 SLU Fall Invitational.
