Panthers Get Back on the Winning Track with a 9th Inning Rally over Nova Southeastern

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Tech Baseball earned their first win in over a week as they rallied in the bottom of the ninth with two outs and the bases loaded as an
error by the Sharks second basemen allowed the Panthers to score the tying and winning runs to defeat Nova Southeastern 9-8 in non-conference play.

After the first inning, the Panthers led the Sharks 5-1. The Sharks scored first as they got their first hit of the game with a double to left field and
scored two batters later with a single to center. The Panthers started the day off with a double by lead off hitter Nick Brennan (Detroit, Mich.). Brennan
would score as Steve Condotta (Mississauga, Ontario) hit one of his three hits of game through the left side of the infield. With consecutive walks, the
bases were loaded for Eric Trillas (Hialeah, Fla.) who drove in two runs with one of his two doubles on the day. Tech’s fourth run would be scored off an
error by NSU’s shortstop with Michael Demma (Coral Springs, Fla.) scoring after he reached on a walk. Trillas would score the final run of the inning off a
sacrifice fly by second basemen Danny Sutton (Land O’Lakes, Fla.).

Nova would chip away at the lead as they scored a run in the second but the Panthers would strike back in the third as Demma would be driven in off a hard
ground ball by Sutton.

Through the fourth and fifth, the Sharks would get within one 6-5 as they scored one in the fourth and two in the fifth combining for six hits and three
runs.

In the sixth, the Sharks tied the game at 6-6 as their lead off hitter in the sixth reached with a hit to the gap between right and center field. After a
walk to the next batter an executed sacrifice bunt moved the runners into scoring position. With only one out, a ground out to Tech’s second baseman drove
the tying run across. The Panthers would recapture the lead after Kevin Villa (Miami, Fla.) who returned to the lineup after sitting out with a hand injury
drew a walk would round the bases as Demma roped a double to the gap in left center.

In the eighth, NSU tied the ball game up as the Sharks combined for a double and two base hits. The Sharks retook the lead in the ninth as they started the
inning off with their fifth double of the game. Two batters later, the Sharks drove in the run with their sixteenth hit of the ball game.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Panthers were able to load the bases off a walk, a single, and after Will Lanier (Jacksonville, Fla.) got hit by a pitch.
With the top of the order and two outs in the inning, Brennan was able to work to a full count. After fouling off consecutive pitches, Nick hit a hard line
drive to the shortstop but with Lanier coming hard into second base the Sharks second basemen couldn’t control the throw which allowed Trillas and Sutton
to score as the ball rolled into right field.

At the end of the ball game the Panthers combined to score nine runs and nine hits as the Sharks went on the score eight runs combining for 16 hits. Three
combined errors on the Sharks side allowed the Panthers to score three runs in the ball game with the last two runs costing NSU the game.

The Panthers now move to 28-19 overall and stays at 11-10 after the non-conference match up. Tech is back in action tomorrow Wednesday, April 25th against
