Panthers Hurler Jake Koch Named Pitcher of the Week
ORLANDO, Fla. – Tech’s sophomore pitcher Jake Koch (Orlando,
Fla.) was named Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week in the week ending on April 1st.
Koch came out of the bullpen to toss 4-1/3 scoreless innings of one-hit ball in the Panthers’ 8-7 victory over #7 Florida Southern in the first game of a
doubleheader sweep on Saturday. Koch faced one batter over the minimum and shut down a Moccasin lineup that had posted seven runs on eight hits before he
entered the game. Earlier in the week, Jake came in to pitch an inning against the #13 Nova Southeastern Sharks facing eight batters as the Panthers came
from behind to defeat the Sharks 8-7.
The young but strong pitcher thus far has an ERA of 3.52 with a record of 2-2, Jake has thrown in 38.1 innings of play totaling 28 strikeouts and only 10
walks; he also leads the team with six saves on the year.
