Panthers Knot 2-to-2 in Double Overtime Mens SSC Soccer Action

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The Panthers finished tied 2-to-2 in Sunshine State Conference men’s soccer action tonight against the Nova Southeastern Sharks in
double overtime action.

Florida Tech (5-8-3, 1-4-2) struck first at the 33rd minute when senior defender Brian Lundy (Satellite Beach, Fla.) found the back of the net off a short
cross from teammate Edward “Teddy” Oyarce (Miami, Fla.). Oyarce, a sophomore midfielder made a great move from the corner to give senior captain Lundy his
second goal on the season.

Tech headed into the break ahead shutting down the Sharks 1-to-0 at the half. The Nova Southeastern Sharks (8-5-3, 3-2-3) knotted the game in the 61st
minute off an unlucky foul by the Panthers in the box. The Sharks’ Romain Onteniente would tie it up one all off the penalty kick.

The crimson and gray strikers would take advantage of the Shark’s playing down one man after a red card was drawn in the 79th minute. Freshman Piers
Ockleford (St. Peter’s Port, Guernsey, U.K.) netted his third collegiate goal off a free kick outside the eighteen yard box. This placed Tech at the
advantage for their much needed conference win.

With only three minutes left in regulation playing time, NSU struck back to tie the match. Joseph Clancy scored off a pass from the Shark’s left flank.
Onteniente was awarded the assist on the game tying shot.

Both teams battled it out in twenty more minutes of double overtime action only to come out with the same result left in regulation time of a final 2-to-2
score. Each team had 17 shots on the night with Tech leading at eleven shots on goals.
