Panthers Make Nationally Ranked Buccaneers Walk the Plank

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (men’s soccer) — Florida Tech comes out two games ahead after their long but successful journey north defeating both Lambuth University 4-1
and finishing off the trip defeating #25 Christian Brothers 2-1 in the afternoon NCAA Division II South Region upset at Signaigo Field.

The Panthers struck first in the 19th minute of play with sophomore midfielder Edward Oyarce (Miami, Fla.) found the back of the net after notching his
fourth goal on the season unassisted. After this weeks’ play Oyarce pushed his way into the second scoring spot on the team with eleven points thus far.

Twenty four minutes later before the half-time buzzer Tech’s freshman leading scorer Ross Allen (Castel, Guernsey, United Kingdom) produced the eventual
game winner for the crimson and gray strikers after a cross from senior captain defender Brian Lundy (Satellite Beach, Fla.).

After coming out of the half-time break, the hope for the shut-out vanished when the Christian Brothers Bucs’ Matt Werasko (Wollongong, Australia) notched
the lone goal in the 49th minute. Junior Brian McNamara recorded the assist after a pass inside the box to Werasko.

Sophomore goalkeeper Cory Collins (Melbourne, Fla.) played an almost flawless match after coming off of an injury in the prior game. Collins made eight
saves allowing only one goal against on 18 shots by the Bucs.

Florida Tech (3-4-1) will be back in action on Wednesday, September 27 at 7:00 p.m. traveling to Tampa to play SSC foe the University of Tampa.
