Panthers Mark 20th Win on Senior Night
MELBOURNE, Fla. (Volleyball) – Florida Tech volleyball played a stellar match Friday night in front of a huge home crowd winning over Barry three
games to one (28-30, 30-24, 30-28, 30-22)
Top playmakers for the Panthers were Jessie Metzger with 16 kills, Marcela Vasconcelos with 42 assists, and
Amanda Boyce with 18 digs. Leigh Ann Brown added a sizzling six blocks.
Leading the way for Barry was Camilla Pagnan with 17 kills, Maria Romanowski with 60 assists and Lauren Evans with 29 digs.
Game one was even all the way through with multiple ties and lead changes. In the end, Barry took it 30-28. Game two started out similar to the first, but
Tech widened the gap by three points and held on to win 30-24 to tie the match. Game three found the Panthers in an early lead, but the Bucs fought back
making the score 8-5 and forcing a Tech time out. The Panthers came back powerful and took the lead forcing a Buc time out at 18-14. There was a lot of
fight from both teams through the rest of the game, and in the end the Panthers took it 30-28.
Tech got off to a strong start in game four taking a five point lead. They maintained their composure through a strong Barry attack and held on to the
lead. Their margin grew after multiple Buc attack errors toward the end. The Panthers took the game 30-22 and sealed the match victory.
This was the last home match for the Panthers and six seniors were honored. Amanda Boyce, Leigh Ann Brown,
Katie Dobek, Lindsay Foster, Brenna Lane and Jessie Metzger have dedicated four years
to the Panther volleyball program and are wished nothing but the best in the future.
The Panthers final match of the season will be Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. at conference foe Rollins.
