Florida Tech Welcomes New Faculty for Spring Semester

– Florida Tech’s Department of Mathematical Sciences welcomes three new faculty members and the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering adds two
assistant professors to its faculty this semester.

In mathematical sciences, two of the new faculty members are from Eastern Europe. They are associate professors Tariel Kiguradze, from Tbilisi, Georgia,
and Ugur Abdulla, who most recently was at the Max Plank Institute in Germany. The third is Syamal Sen, a professor from the Indian Institute of Science in
Bangalore, India. Sen was a Fulbright Fellow and visiting professor at Florida Tech in the early 1990s.

One of the new faculty in mechanical and aerospace engineering is Mark Archambault, who earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Florida Tech. He also
earned a doctoral degree in aeronautics and astronautics from Stanford University and most recently was a research engineer at the Air Force Research
Laboratory at Edwards AFB, Calif. The second new member of this department’s faculty is Daniel Kirk, who finished his doctoral degree in aeronautics and
astronautics at M.I.T. in 2002. Since 2002 he has been a post-doctoral associate in micro-rocket research there.
