Panthers Shut Down Sailfish 4-0 in Women’s Soccer Action

MELBOURNE, Fla.— The Florida Tech Panthers (3-4-1) notched their first shut-out of the season defeating the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish (9-3-0) 4-0 in a
regional match tonight at the Lantana Fields.

Head Coach Fidgi Haig and the Panthers mark another first in the “Haig” era shutting down the Sailfish. Tech’s win over Palm Beach Atlantic was
significantly important, due to the Sailfish defeating Florida Southern last week and also overcoming Nova Southeastern earlier in the year. Tech fell to
SSC foe Nova Southeastern in their first and only conference match of the season.

Haig, who is normally a very quiet coach, was extremely vocal on the bench during the game helping the Panthers prepare for their best victory thus far in
2005.

Senior Kelli Haurte (Manteca, CA) scored the first goal and subsequently the game winner at the 33rd minute of the game. Huarte rolled passed two Sailfish
defenders to snap the goal past the keeper for the solo attempt capturing her 7th goal of the season.

Sophomore Ericka Hildreth (Cocoa Beach, FL) repeated the motion less than one minute later off a give and go pass from the Panther’s junior Miranda Tessier
(Vero Beach, FL). Tessier is Tech’s leader in assists tallying her sixth on the season. Hildreth also scored the final goal of the game notching her fourth
for the season.

Hildreth’s header came in the 86th minute off a free kick from fellow sophomore Danielle Eason (Melbourne, FL).

Tech’s third goal was a classic free kick shot from about 25 yards back. Junior, Tara Euginedes (Dade City, FL) nailed it over the Sailfish wall into the
top of the net above the keeper. This goal was Euginedes first of the season.

Tech’s starting keeper sophomore Ericka Wales (Huntsville, AL) had one save and shared the combined shut-out with sophomore goal keeper Cassie Moll (New
Concord, OH). Moll’s 27 minutes in the net are her first collegiate keeper minutes.

Haig was able to clear his bench against Palm Beach allowing everyone to get some collegiate playing experience in the second half.

Tech will be back in action on October 7th, 2005 after a ten day break in schedule traveling to Lakeland to play SSC opponent Florida Southern at 7:00 p.m.
