Tech Finished Up Play at Florida Collegiate Tennis Championships

FORT MEYERS, Fla.-Florida Tech finished up tournament play today at the Florida Collegiate One-on-One Doubles Tournament hosted by Florida Gulf Coast.
After yesterday, Tech was eliminated from the championship play in both singles and doubles action sending just two Panthers into consolation play.

In men’s back draw action, junior Cliff Giel (Saventa, Aruba) won the semi-final match against Chris Caswell (FGCU) by default. In the finals, Giel
finished victorious having shut-down Adam Flintoff (Florida Southern) 6-4, 6-1 taking the consolation championships. In doubles action, Giel defeated
Alberto Gutierrez (FGCU) 8-3 in the semi-finals. Despite the three other wins for Giel he was unable to take Konstantine Laveroz (FGCU) in the one-on-one
doubles consolation championships falling 8-6.

In the women’s consolation round, Nicole David (Ft. Pierce, FL) defeated Lesley Passolt (FGCU) 8-4 in doubles semi-final action. David would lose to #3
Maria Braniecka 8-2 in the consolation championship game in the one-on-one doubles.

Tech Tennis will return with individual action at the Florida Southern Invitational next weekend on Friday and Saturday, September 16 and 17 in Lakeland.
