Panthers Still Winless in SSC as they Fall 3-0 to Tritons
ST. PETERSBURG, FLA. (Women’s volleyball) – The Panthers are still looking for their first win in SSC play as they loss a tough match against the Tritons
of Eckerd College 3-0 (30-11, 30-14, and 3-14).
Early in games one and two the Tritons jumped out quickly on the Panthers and easily took both games going up 2-0 going into the third game.
In game three, the Panthers got back into rhythm matching every point by the Tritons but couldn’t overcome Eckerd as they rallied to a significant 29-13
lead late in game three and taking the game 30-14.
The Panthers were lead by Senior Jessica Metzger (Oxford, Conn.) with 8 kills with Megan Konopnicki (Plano, TX) adding 5 and Lindsay Foster (Titusville,
Fla.) adding 4.
Defensively for the Panthers Freshman Libero, Melissa Reinders (Orlando, Fla.) lead the way with 10 digs while Amanda Boyce (Madison, WI) chipped in 8 and
Freshman Jessica Davies (Lawrenceville, Fla.) added 5 digs. Boyce also added 18 assists for the Panthers.
The Panthers are now 2-16 overall and 0-6 in SSC play. They next will meet Tampa on October 1st at 4 pm in Tampa, Fla.
