Panthers Take it to Embry-Riddle

MELBOURNE, Fla. – (Volleyball) Florida Tech volleyball improved to 14-8 overall Wednesday night after a 3-1 victory over the Embry-Riddle Eagles.

Leading the way for the Panthers was Marcela Vasconcelos notching her second triple-double with 10 kills, 51 assists and 18 digs.
Sacha Gumbs added 17 kills and seven blocks while Amy O’Brien tallied 29 digs.

Top playmakers for the Eagles included Alana Martinez with nine kills and six blocks, Marissa Gonzales with 30 assists and Janelle Marinos with 21 digs.

Game one found the Panthers in a four point hole, but they quickly recovered to take the lead at 11. They maintained control of the game hitting 17 team
kills compared to the Eagles seven and won 30-20. The Eagles didn’t take that lying down as they took control in the second game holding the Panthers to a
two point lead. Embry-Riddle took the lead at 19 and held on as the Panthers fought back through extra points. The visitors finished on top with a score of
32-30. Tech bounced back in game three taking the lead at nine and holding it throughout the game. The Panthers hit .204 compared to the Eagles -.070 to
take the win 30-18.

It was same story different chapter as the Panthers monopolized Eagle attack errors in game three and dominated the offense hitting a match-high .308.
Florida Tech won the game 30-20 and took the match 3-1.

The Panthers continue their home stand Thursday, Oct. 11, to face West Georgia at 6 p.m.
