Panthers Tie in a Gut Wrenching 2-2 Double Overtime Outcome

MELBOURNE, Fla. – In a match between two Sunshine State Conference teams pushing for one of the six tournament spots, the Panthers of Florida Tech and the
Moccasin’s of Florida Southern moved a point closer, tying 2-2.

Intensity was the name of the game for both teams as they came out firing. Tech had a chance to score the first goal off a penalty kick taken by Ross Allen
(Castel, Guernsey, United Kingdom) in the first few minutes of the game. Unfortunately for the Panthers Allen he hit the post on the PK missing his first
of the season.

The scoring got started by Florida Southern with Ola Sandquist (Smalandsstenar, Sweden) making a move on two defenders and ripping his third goal of the
season. The unassisted shot by Sandquist was deflected off another defender over the outreached hands of Panther goalie Cory Collins (Melbourne, Fla.) to
take the lead 1-0.

Minutes later, the Panthers answered back with Piers Ockleford (St. Peter’s Port, Guernsey, United Kingdom) crossing the ball to Allen knotting the game at
1-1. Ross’s goal was his 12th on the season keeping him at the top of the conference in scoring.

Late in the first half the Mocs scored off a corner kick where Nick Kregal (Houston, Texas) found the head of Mike Bierman (Rockledge, Fla.) to gain the
2-1 advantage going into the break.

Throughout the second half Tech kept pressure on the Mocs but couldn’t find the finishing touches. The crimson and gray strikers finally gained an
advantage deep in the Mocs defensive third where Ockleford chipped the ball over to Bello Illiassou (Bitam, Gabon, Africa). Illiassou launched a hard shot
past the opposing goalie Matt Ward (Naples, Fla.) tying the game at 2-2.

At the end of regulation the game was tied 2-2 heading into sudden death overtime. Both overtimes showed no let down in the attacking efforts from either
teams. Several opportunities were missed as each team ended the game earning one point in the SSC heading into the late stages of conference play.

The Panthers move to a 4-7-2 overall record and 2-3-1 in the SSC and travel to Winter Park, Florida on Friday, October, 13th at 7 pm to take on Rollins
College. This game will be live audio broadcast via the website at http://it.fit.edu/events/clemente-audio/ along with live
