Panthers Win Tampa International
Florida Tech Ties with Lynn University with a score of 875 in Men’s Golf Action
TAMPA, Fla.-The Florida Tech men’s golf team pushes ahead to a program first victory in day two of the 2005 Tampa Invitational after placing 4th in day one
at Rogers Park. The course was Par 71, 6,802 yardage and 14 collegiate teams were entered including seven conference schools. Tech finished with a three
round tally of 292-292-291 for an 875 first place tie with conference foe Lynn University.
The invitational medalist was an individual competitor Anders Ekdahl from Flagler College shooting 70-73-69 totaling one under par at 212 for the first
place finish.
The Panthers notch two duffers in the top ten. Local Melbourne standout junior Anthony Klingensmith led the way for the Panthers shooting 70-72-71=213 for
an even par to take the runner up spot in the invitational. Fellow Melbourne junior golfer Jonas DeWitte finished 7th with a three round tally of 72-71-73,
three strokes over totaling 216 strokes.
Sophomore Ryan Gielow (Vero Beach, Florida) and junior Jeff Wittup (Calgary, Alberta) tied for 43rd place overall and tied for third on the team. Gielow
shoots 80-77-70=227 grabbing Tech’s third round low round. Wittup sported a fourteen over par 76-72-79=227 for the two day tournament.
Bringing up the rear for Florida Tech was sophomore newcomer Dan Moline (Duluth, Minnesota) completing a final score of 229 (74-78-77) placing 53rd out of
102 golfers.
The Panthers will be back inaction on October 22nd thru the 24th playing in the 2005 NSU UNNICO Fall Invitational in Ft. Lauderdale.
