WELBRO Awards Florida Tech Intern $1,500 Scholarship

– WELBRO Building Corporation of Maitland, Fla., provided a summer internship to Florida Tech junior, Rachel Gerena, and gave her a $1,500 scholarship for
her 2005-2006 academic year. Civil engineering major Gerena said, “The internship I completed this year was a great experience. I learned so much about
project management and about how things actually work on a real project. The people at WELBRO were all great to work with.”

WELBRO is an active member of the Florida Tech Construction Industry Advisory Board (CIAB).

“WELBRO went the extra mile by providing this scholarship and the internship opportunity to one of our best students,” said Florida Tech Professor Ralph V.
Locurcio, P.E. “Internships, such as the WELBRO program, are the catalyst that guarantees the success of keeping our best and brightest in Florida.”

According to Locurcio, the internship experience at Florida Tech is essential to the development of a real-world perspective to classroom education. In
fact, one of Florida Tech’s primary goals is to graduate students who have a working knowledge of real-world problems.”

with building relationships for the future,” said Steve Sprague, senior project manager, Rosen Shingle Creek Resort and WELBRO’s representative on the
Florida Tech CIAB.
