Public Invited to National Engineers Week Mini-conference

– To help celebrate National Engineers Week, Feb. 15-22, Florida Tech will host a mini-conference presenting two national speakers and engineering
consultants associated with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). The public is invited to attend this free event, which will be
held on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 1 p.m. in the F.W. Olin Engineering Complex on University Blvd.

Dr. Mike Andrews will discuss the habits of successful engineers like Thomas Edison, Herbert Hoover, Neil Armstrong and Alexander Graham Bell. Dr. Gary
Blank will talk about consulting and ask the questions, “Do consultants really make THAT much?” “Is consulting right for me?” “What do I need to be a
consultant?”

Dr. J.C. Wheeler, head of the Florida Tech Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, will also make a
presentation on a fundamental pillar of great engineers: Good ethics. Wheeler will explore how one’s ethics may develop, be questioned, or even
challenged.
College of Engineering Dean Ron Bailey will conduct opening ceremonies for National Engineers Week at the mini-conference. The mini-conference is sponsored
by the IEEE; opening ceremonies are sponsored by the National Society for Black Engineers.
