Renee Foosaner Education Center Offers Art of Printing Course

MELBOURNE, FLA. – Florida Institute of Technology’s Renee Foosaner Education Center will present a course in the art of printing featuring intaglio printmaking, screen-printing, monoprint and relief printmaking. Leading the students will be international artist and master printer Serhat Tanyolacar. Classes, which begin Jan. 8, will be held Tuesdays, 3:30 to 4:20 p.m.

In addition to this credit course, the museum offers community course #237 “Printmaking” on Fridays from 9a.m. -12p.m.Students enrolled in the Tuesday class may attend the Friday class for additional studio time.

Students will gain technical and conceptual skills, which they will apply to the process of printing using a variety of creative techniques. After successful completion of the course, students will be able to understand the technical applications of printmaking; the graphic aesthetic of printmaking and reasons for its exploitation; good formal strategies including design, color and mark making; the conceptual and historical context of printmaking; and the role of printmakers in society.
