Revered Spiritual Writer Norris Burkes in Free Presentation at Florida Tech Oct. 21

MELBOURNE, Fla.—Norris Burkes, Gannett News Service syndicated spiritual columnist, will present “Laughing Through Life, Love and Loss” at Florida Institute of Technology Oct. 21, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. There is no charge for his lecture, which will be in the Gleason Performing Arts Center.

An Air National Guard chaplain, Burkes is also a freelance writer. His Gannett column takes a spiritual, often comical and sometimes irreverent look at everyday life. The weekly column, begun for Florida Today in 2001, now runs in more than 50 newspapers and reaches almost one million readers. He is also a magazine columnist for Adoption Today and the Journal of Neonatal Nursing and is an occasional contributor to CBN.com, the Chicago Tribune, San Francisco Chronicle, Denver Post and several other newspapers.

Chaplain Burkes earned a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University in Texas and has a master of divinity degree from Golden Gate Seminary in Mill Valley, Calif. He is married and a father of four.

His presentation is sponsored by Florida Today and the event is co-hosted by the university. Florida Today Executive Editor Bob Stover will introduce Burkes.
