Ron Pirtle Quartet to Play at Ballard Park
– WFIT 89.5FM, a service of Florida Tech, and the city of Melbourne present the last of the season Twilight Jazz concerts in Ballard Park. It’s on Sunday,
May 14, 3-6 p.m. The free concert, on Mothers Day Sunday, is a tribute to all mothers.
Performing will be the sought-after and much-requested Ron Pirtle Quintet. The quintet is one of the tightest and most respected groups in the area. To
their credit is the CD, titled, “Gettin’ in the Groove.”
Pirtle, known for his sunny disposition, dependability and his bass, which is almost as tall as he, is one of the finest upright bass players in the area.
Knowledgeable in all areas of music, Pirtle’s true love is jazz.
Also in the quintet is the quintessential piano player Carl Hendrix, who has forgotten more about jazz than most of us would ever know.
Other members are Stan Soloko, drummer and vocalist; Brad Baker, tenor and soprano saxophone; and Paul Polanski baritone and tenor sax player. The duo of
Baker and Polanski is a crowd pleasing favorite.
Bring your lawn chairs and picnics and enjoy this Mothers Day concert. For further information call (321) 674-8950.
