Florida Tech Student Earns Environmental Studies Fellowship

– Kimberly Kelly, a Florida Tech graduate student in oceanography/coastal zone management, was awarded a $1,000 Kimley-Horn/Don Beccasio Fellowship. Kelly
earned her bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering at the University of Louisville, Kentucky. She is from Louisville.

Transportation planners and traffic operations experts founded the consulting firm of Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. of Raleigh, N.C., in 1967. Don
Beccasio, a long-time employee of Kimley-Horn, promoted the development of consulting expertise in environmental systems. Upon his death, the company
established the fellowship in his name for graduate students pursuing environmental studies who are interested in a career in environmental consulting.

The fellowship is awarded annually. Students applying must submit a one-page essay on the role of environmental consultants in providing optimal solutions
to vital contemporary issues. Selection is based on the essay and the applicant’s academic record.

Florida Tech offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in environmental science, a master’s degree in environmental resources management, and
bachelor’s and master’s degrees in coastal zone management.
