Sailfish Outlast Panthers 3-1 in Women’s Volleyball Action

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (volleyball) — Despite a valiant effort by Florida Tech (2-18), the Panthers succumbed to the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish (12-10)
3-to1 at the Rubin Arena tonight. The loss proved to be a tough one for Tech after coming back in game three upsetting the Sailfish 30-28. Game scores were
close with Palm Beach Atlantic taking games one, two and four 30-27, 30-22 and 30-27.

The Panthers playing a tight game tonight showed some improvement after the past two matches compiling 48 kills to the home Palm Beach Atlantic’s 50 for
the night. Both teams had issues on their serves each tallying 15 service errors, while the Panthers only had two aces on the night. Defensively, Tech led
at the net with thirteen team blocks to the Sailfish eleven. The digs were also about even with the crimson and gray pulling off 52 digs to their
opponent’s 59 for the four game loss.

Senior middle hitter Jenny McCoy (Titusville, Fla.) and junior outside hitter Jessica Metzger (Oxford, Conn.) evenly combined eighteen kills. Metzger
finished with blocks including two block solos; McCoy also had two block solos for the four sets. Senior outside hitter Megan Konopnicki (Plano, Texas)
chipped in eight kills and 14 digs. Freshman outside hitter Frankie Brown (Panama City, Fla.) also added eight kills leading all hitters with a .400 attack
percentage.

Defensively, junior Lindsay Foster (Titusville, Fla.) led at the net with seven block assists including her season high three block solos. Freshman libero
Melissa Reinders (Orlando, Fla.) totaled a team high 18 digs.

Junior setter Amanda Boyce (Madison, Wis.) had 41 assists, seven digs and a.333 hitting percentage. Rounding off the starters was junior Brenna Lane (Dade
City, Fla.) posting six kills and eight digs for the evening.

The Panthers return to action traveling to Ft. Lauderdale to face Sunshine State Conference opponent Nova Southeastern on Friday, October 6 at 7:00 p.m.
