Exploration Day! Come visit Florida Tech and experience college life.

Tour Guides at the Check-In Site for the families to get ready

Are you overwhelmed yet? A simple way to start narrowing down your search is to determine the criteria most relevant in your decision.  My criteria were scholarships available, majors offered, and location. Every student has different standards when choosing their university. This step will help you narrow down options. The next step is to visit the university or college, if possible, or at least call to get more information about them.

Want to know something funny? My parents decided that we all go visit colleges on my birthday as a present. That’s weird, right? In the end, I determined that visiting the colleges was the best way for me to really get a feel for a university. I went to many colleges in U.S., but none were very appealing to me. Then I attended an educational fair at my high school. That’s where I met Stephanie Enstice  and got to know about Florida Institute of Technology which eventually led me to Florida Tech.

Seeing the campus online and seeing the campus in person are two very different experiences, and physically being here exceeded my expectations. Unfortunately, I did not take advantage of all the opportunities Florida Tech provides for prospective students to check out the campus and I wish I had. So my advice to you is to visit campus if you can. There are many options available to you, including campus tours, Discovery Day and Exploration Day.Check out Ariana’s post about Discovery Day to learn more about this full day event catering to students interested in attending Florida Tech.

Exploration Day is like Discovery Day but it’s just for a half a day and has fewer people. Upcoming Exploration Days are Feb 24th, March 30th, June 29th, July 27th and Aug 31st. If you are interested in attending Exploration Day, make sure you register. If you would like to have smaller more intimate tour of campus, you could always register for a personal visit.

When you visit campus, the counselors are there to help you and discuss any doubts or reservations your have. They are there to answer your questions and are available from 8 am till 4:00 pm.  Exploration Day is a way to get to know your environment and experience the campus life. The tour guides’ job is to answer your questions  about the campus , academics, dining, housing and more. They will give you the inside scoop on campus life. Also on Exploration, you will get to meet the academic advisor or head of the department who will help you have a deer understanding of the major your are pursing. Plus, just for visiting campus, you qualify for a yearly scholarship of $1,000!

Here is a Youtube Video I found which will explore the campus but I believe you should experience it in person. Until next time, enjoy the video.
