Sink Your Teeth Into Our Latest Production: Dracula

Plastic fangs, a rainbow of costumes and seven hours spent in Gleason Performing Arts Center Monday through Friday can only mean one thing; the 2013 Spring production is here! For the past three months, the cast and crew of Dracula has been hard at work bringing Florida Tech the fang-blaring and blood-dripping production. With Dracula, the third College Players production I’ve been involved in, I feel right at home dedicating so much time to a show. The ups and downs of the overall experience really become worthwhile in the end when the entire cast joins hands and takes that final bow.

Being involved in a production is like riding a three-month long roller coaster; it can possibly drive you crazy, but if you persist until the end, you look back and realize just how much fun you had. This production is about a hundred times more special to College Players because it is, in fact, our 100th production. Florida Tech College Players is the longest running student organization on the Florida Tech campus, which was founded in 1969.

For every one of our 100 productions, the main goal is to bring more and more students to join our big, diverse and whacky family. We grow closer and closer through every long night spent running lines and every sweaty weekend spent building complex sets.

For this show specifically, I have really enjoyed my complex costume and character. I play the role of Evangeline, a blood thirsty vixen who feeds off of pure desire and lust. I have the coolest fangs, deathly sexy makeup and a dress that makes all dead brides jealous. It’s been quite the experience practicing how to make a deranged animal into a sexy beast.

We premier the show to faculty on Wednesday, March 27. The show opens to the entire Florida Tech community on Thursday, March 28 with performances March 29 and 30 and April 4 through 6. The doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the shows begin at 8 p.m.  From all the vixens, vampires and more, we all hope you show up!
