Softball Receives Votes in NFCA National Poll
STARKVILLE, Miss. – The National Fast Pitch Coaches Association announced the fourth release of the NCAA Division II weekly National Top 25 Poll. Florida
Tech received 13 points, four shy of the 25th place spot, notching their first ever appearance in the NFCA top 25 list.
The Panthers have made their way into the NCAA II South Regional Poll for the last three years, but had never made it to the national NFCA rankings. This
season Tech has faced #5 Florida Gulf Coast, #8 Alabama-Huntsville, #13 Valdosta State, #19 Florida Southern and also LeMoyne (receiving seven votes).
Other than the 2006 NCAA DII national runners-up Florida Southern, Tech is the only Sunshine State Conference softball team to be named on the list. SSC
rival Barry was 23rd in the last poll but has since dropped out all together.
Under the direction of head coach Ellie O’Shei, the Panthers are currently 30-15 on the season, 6-0 in the SSC. They are leading the conference as the only
team undefeated thus far. In the south region, the crimson and gray are 26-14.
