X-Culture: Preparation is Key

Going into the X-Culture project, I had a lot of questions that were unanswered. After the first few emails, I knew I had a decent group of individuals. Everyone explained a little something about themselves, where they come from, and what they look out of getting out of the project. All of our goals were pretty similar was to do well with the project. I noticed everyones English was better than expected. Originally, I had a concern about the language barrier between countries. I also didn’t know how fast people were going to get into the project, but we ended up selecting our topic within the second week. One of my group members took initiative and posted all of the necessary criteria that the paper had to meet on our groups Facebook page. It was a free-for-all, everyone had to pick two sections to cover and have them in by March 8th. We had very few problems when it came to getting the first draft together which in return made it very easy for the final draft. We had a few sentences that came back as if they were copied, and the people that had copied sentences went back and tried to fix them the best that they could. I thought I was going to learn a little more about what some of my group members were doing in their personal lives throughout the project but that wasn’t the case. Everyone was focused on getting the project done and doing well. That was our groups’ goal from the beginning and it is tough to just make conversation about something other than the project with our groups when we all have busy lives as well. In conclusion of the project, a few of us thanked one another for doing their parts and being a great group and most of it was due to the proper preparation in getting the assignment off the ground.
