Staff Members Win Public Relations Awards

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Two Florida Institute of Technology employees received awards for excellence in public relations from the Space Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) April 26 at the Rockledge Country Club.

University Publications Director Judi Tintera received the top-scoring Image Award for her office’s work on establishing a graphic identity for Florida Tech.

University Communications Coordinator Melinda Millsap received the Award of Distinction for her internal communications plan for Florida Tech.

The FPRA awards have become a standard of public relations excellence in the state of Florida. “It’s a tribute to the quality of Florida Tech’s advancement team to have two individuals and departments acknowledged in this way,” said Thomas Fox, Ph.D., senior vice president for advancement.
Winning entries demonstrate the very best examples of innovation, planning and design. An entry must incorporate sound public relations research and planning and meet the highest standards of production, execution and evaluation of results and budget.

The 2007 Space Coast Chapter Image Awards competition recognizes outstanding public relations programs on the Space Coast of Florida. The Space Coast Chapter of the FPRA encourages and promotes the development of public relations professionalism in the area.
