Students Raise $2,400 For Adopted School, United Way

– At Florida Tech’s Homecoming 2006, Homecoming King and Queen hopefuls competed to raise funds for this year’s recipients-neighboring University Park
Elementary (UPE) School and the United Way. $2,400 were raised to share between UPE and United Way.

“Virtually every student organization participated,” said Kristina Messina, chair of the student committee for Homecoming.

Florida Tech “adopted” UPE in 2001. Florida Tech students mentor UPE students, raise funds for the K-6 grade students’ activities and equipment, and put on
an annual Halloween party for the youngsters.

In late April, the checks were presented by Florida Tech President Anthony J. Catanese to University Park Elementary School Principal Donna Entsminger and
United Way of Brevard County President Robert R. Rains.
