Panthers Split Double Header with Barry

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The double header match up between the Panthers and Bucs ended with each team winning one game. The Panthers in the first game
unloaded on the Bucs winning 15-10 with a total of 14 hits but in game two the Panthers ran out of time and innings as they fell short 5-4 to Barry.

Game one saw an awaking of the Panthers bats as they went to combine for a total of 14 hits scoring 15 runs in the scoring dual against Barry. The Bucs got
the upper hand early in the game scoring four runs in the first two innings taking the early lead with both team entered the fourth.

In the fourth, Steve Condotta (Mississauga, Ontario) singled for the Panthers first hit of the game and with two back to back walks to Eamonn Powers
(Staten Island, NY) and Sam Palace (Clarkston, Mich.) loaded the bases for Tech. JD Davidson (Naples, Fla.) would knock in Tech’s first run with
a sacrifice fly then Danny Sutton (Land O’Lakes, Fla.) would knock in the second run with a base hit of his own in the inning. Going into the
seventh, the Bucs would lead 5-2.

In the seventh, the Panthers went on a tear scoring six runs and combining for six hits. Back to back base hits by Trevor Hearl (Cape Coral, Fla.) and Will
Lanier (Jacksonville, Fla.) would put the two lead off batters on. Hearl would score the first run of the inning as Brendan Twomey (Boca Raton, Fla.) drove
him in. With two outs the Panthers rally continued as Condotta smacked a double scoring Lanier; a walk to Powers would put two more on base and with a base
hit by Palace would drive in Condotta. Powers would come in to score off a base hit from Davidson and would score as he stole home to mark the sixth run of
the inning. At the end of the seventh, the Panthers would grab the lead going up 8-6.

The Panthers eighth didn’t produce any runs but for the home team Bucs, they would retake the lead scoring four runs with a double scoring the first two
run and then a two run homerun would score the second two runs.

Trailing by two, the Panthers continued to brawl as they started the inning with four straight base hits with Condotta, Powers, Palace, and Davidson all
reaching base; all four players would score in the inning and Hearl and Lanier also reached base also scoring themselves. Palace, Hearl, Lanier, Brennan,
Twomey, and Condotta all drove in the runs for the Panthers as they totaled seven runs on five hits.

Jake Koch (Orlando, Fla.) who pitched the last three innings earned the win (3-2) while starting pitcher Mike Piazza (Miami, Fla.) pitched a fair game for
the no decision.

Game 2

The Panthers were the ones who struck first in game two in the third inning scoring three runs as Eamonn Powers (Staten Island, NY) bombed his fifth
homerun of the year scoring Brennan and Condotta who reached base on a walk and being hit by a pitch.

The Bucs were able to get a run back in the fourth with the first two batters reaching the bases with a lead off single and then with a double scoring the
run. Again in the fifth, Barry retook the lead with a two hit three run inning; a fielders choice scored the first run but another double by the Bucs would
score the other two runs.

Tech’s Sam Palace would tie the ballgame up with his eighth homerun of the season as he led off the sixth inning. With the game tied, the Panthers couldn’t
hold off and overcome the Buccaneers as they hit their third double of the game to start the sixth inning. A base hit by Barry would put the runner on
third and with a wild pitch, the Buccaneers would score the essential winning fifth run.

In the Panthers last at bat, Nick Brennan doubled to right center for to get one on the bases and then with back to back walks to Condotta and Powers would
load up the bases but with two out, the Panthers left the ducks on the pond as the game ended 5-4 in favor of the Buccaneers.

Tech after splitting the double header with Barry move to 25-13 overall and 9-6 in the Sunshine State Conference and next will travel to Lynn University on
Tuesday, April 10th in a non conference match up starting at 3pm in Boca Raton.
