Tech Baseball Dominate Over Flagler College

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Tech earned their second straight win in back to back days as the Panthers pounced on Flagler College 11-3 combining for 14 hits to take
their overall record to 29-19. In the game, senior shortstop Steve Condotta (Mississauga,
Ontario) who tied the single season stolen base record of 36 against Nova Southeastern broke the record against Flagler in the third inning swiping his
37th and record breaking stolen base of the year.

Tech went hitless through the first two innings while only getting one runner on base after lead off hitter Nick Brennan (Detroit, Mich.) reached on
catcher’s interference. Flagler also went hitless through the first two innings as starting pitcher Jake Koch (Orlando, Fla.) retired the six batters faced
in the first two innings with two strikeouts, two groundouts, and two fly outs.

Flagler got the first hit and run of the game in the third inning with their lone double of the game driving in the run as the lead off hitter of the
inning reached on one of Flagler’s seven hits.
The Panthers in the third opened the flood gates with four consecutive base hits scoring three runs. With one out in the inning, the Panthers kept the ball
rolling with four more hits, drawing two walks, and a sacrifice fly to score eight runs with eight hits and two walks in one half inning of play. Will
Lanier (Jacksonville, Fla.) drove in the first run of the inning with a double to left center field and with another double by Brennan Tech would score two
more runs. Condotta would drive in the fourth run while Kevin Villa (Miami, Fla.) would drive in the fifth run both off of singles hit into the outfield.
Villa and Eamonn Powers (Staten Island, NY) who drew a walk would be driven in by Eric Trillas (Hialeah, Fla.) who smacked a single back up the middle for
the sixth & seventh run; Trillas with the bases loaded would be driven in with a deep sacrifice fly by Lanier to mark the last run. Tech would bat
around in the inning with all but one Panther scoring a run or having a hit.

Koch wouldn’t allow another run until the sixth inning where Flagler went on a three hit two walk inning scoring their last two runs. Koch in six innings
of pitching earned his fourth win of the year while he struck out six batters and utilized the defense behind him to get six ground outs and six pop outs.
Coming to pitch in the seventh inning Jonathan Cornelius (Land O’Lakes, Fla.) finished off Flagler striking out five batters with not walks and no hits
earning him his first save of the year.

Tech offensively would go on to score two more runs in the sixth inning as Powers and Villa knocked in the two runs with a base hit and a sacrifice fly. In
the seventh, the Panthers scored their last run after Palace led the inning off with a double and with Lanier’s second double of the game Palace came
around to mark the Panthers 11th and final run of the game.

Tech would go on to combine for 14 hits scoring 11 runs with Palace being the leader of the game with three hits in five at bats. Four other Tech players
also had multi hit games with Condotta have two singles, Powers with two singles, Trevor Hearl (Cape Coral, Fla.) with two singles, and Lanier with two
doubles. Brennan, Villa, and Trillas all chipped in a hit apiece. Lanier led the Panthers driving in three RBI with Villa driving in two RBI. Brennan,
Condotta, Powers, and Trillas all drove in one run in the ball game.

Tech has moved to 29-19 on the year after the 11-3 victory over Flagler and has the next ten days off until the travel to St. Petersburg, Fla. to take on
Eckerd College on May 6th in the SSC season finale series.
