Tech Battles Hard but Falls Short to Puerto Rico Piedras 3-0

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Tech Volleyball battled south regional opponent Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras in the non-conference match up at the Clemente Center this
evening falling in straight games; 30-18, 30-16, and 30-24.

Tech started off slow in the beginning of games one and two but battled their way to a respective ending in each game. Game one ended with a 30-18 score
while game two ended as a 30-16 score.

Looking for some redemption, the Panthers came out of the break fired up for game three. Despite going down early, Tech fought their way from an 11 point
deficit to get the game within six but couldn’t continue their rally as they fell 30-24 in the final game.

The Panthers efforts on attack were led by Frankie Brown (Panama City, Fl) with seven to lead the team. Leigh Ann Brown (Winter Park, Fl) contributed five
kills while Jessie Metzger (Oxford, CT) and Jenny McCoy (Titusville, Fl) added four apiece.

Defensively the team was led by Amanda Boyce (Madison, WI) with 11 digs while Melissa Reinders (Orlando, Fl) and Katie Dobek (Sterling, MI) contributed
eight apiece on the night. Boyce recorded a double-double on the night adding 20 assists to go along with her 11 digs.

The Panthers now 2-23 overall on the season continue play on Thursday, October, 19th hosting Florida Gulf Coast in the Clemente Center at 7 pm.
